Through the looking glass is the sequel to Alice´s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carrol. The name 

Casa Lens that Obra Arquitetos, which is the name of the Brazilian architect firm that has created this astonishing home centered around this remarkable curved glass had me thinking of the novel from 1871.

This multifaceted more than modern house is built for a couple with the idea of providing 

a contemplative and 

reflective space. 

This goal was approached 

in two ways:

The first on a more intimate scale. The whole house is organized around a small patio with varying levels. 

This internal patio allows visual contact between the environments of the house, bringing the residents closer together. 

Nature, on this small scale, can be observed according to the variations of the seasons.

A curved glass was designed so that the space of the patio had no segmentation at its edges and the space could be observed 

through this lens.

The second way considered the 

scale of the landscape.

Casa Lens has a wide view of the Serra da Mantiqueira.

Starting from the most intimate interior dimension, traveling almost in a spiral, you can climb the garden staircase and observe the amplitude of the landscape.

Serra da Mantiqueira  is present in the garden of the house. 

THE MANTIQUEIRA MOUNTAINS 
 (Portuguese: Serra da Mantiqueira) are a mountain range in Southeastern Brazil, with parts in the states of Sao Paulo, Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro. It rises abruptly from the northwestern bank of the Paraíba do Sul River and extends northeastward for approximately 320 km (200 mi), reaching a height of 2,798 m (9,180 ft) at Pedra da Minha. The name Mantiqueira derives from Tupi word meaning:

"MOUNTAINS THAT CRY"
denoting the large number of springs and streams found there. 
The name shows the range's great importance as a source of drinking water, and the waters supply a great number of important cities in the southeast of Brazil.

The front view does not reveal so much and provides a great parking space below the house with a staircase leading up to the central courtyard.

Planting grass on the roof of the house provides a 

garden feeling to Casa Lens although

 the building takes almost the whole area of the lot.

Through the looking glass of this spectacular curved window of 

Casa Lens that to me is one of the most inspiring homes I have seen in a very long time I recommend you to listen to :

and the program STIL in Swedish where they look into why we are so obsessed with checking what it looks like at our neighbor or seeing how people over all decorate their homes.

Marenco sofa by Italian Arflex, Designed by Mario Marenco 1970. The sofa features a revolutionary system to assemble seat and armrest cushions to the base. The cushions are simply put into a metal tubular frame which grants rigidity and resistance to the use of the sofa. Base in multi plywood with fiber cover. 

Backrests and armrests: main structure in painted tubular metal. 
Each element is padded and covered singularly. Padding in stress-resistant differentiated density polyurethane foam and fiber cover. Fully removable covers.

och jag talade om hur hjälplös 

man känner sig inför den pandemi 

som nu går över världen. 

Vi kom gemensamt fram till 

att istället sälja bordet 

på auktion och se till att 

ALLA slantar som auktionen

Bordet jag kallar Livsbord är 

skapat i stålprofil med min 

lokala smed och med bordsskivan Silestone Eternal Emperador. 

Stålets enkla inramning tar 

fram stenens mönster 

och bordets form har 

måtten 291cm x 81cm 

med bordshöjden 76 cm som bidrar 

till att göra det unikt.

Bordet som jag sålt med 

olika typer av skivor 

kostar i denna form 

23 000 kr och det 

blir vårt utgångsbud.

Vi hoppas såklart att den eller de 

som köper Livsbordet vill bidra 

till den verksamhet som

kan förse vår behövande värld med.

A print magazine that still inspires me is Dutch VT Wonen and on their site and in their newsletter you find all of these cool home office solutions. Follow the link on the bottom of the post and get their DIY video of a home office.

All around the world we are now working from home. Needing a workplace separate from the living room sofa and the kitchen table can help things. You really do not need a lot of space but having storage for your work stuff does make it all easier. Finding the right storage for your folders, pens or whatever material it is you need apart from computer and electricity for your sowing machine. By storing the things you need to work in a separate cabinet your workspace can be used by everyone in your household.  

Be seated

When you are working from home day after day you start to need a chair that supports your back after sitting comfortably but a bit wrong in the bed for to long. 

A good chair does not necessarily mean a pure office chair in metal on wheels. You can find ergonomic chairs in lots of different styles.  Just always try 

it before buying. 

Use your space 

You do not need a separate room for your home office to be efficient. An unused corner or under the staircase or in a closet can work out just as well. Yes you can laugh, but I have done just that for a client in an old apartment where a workspace with a small desk was needed. 

Vintage chairs can be both 

comfy and cool off course.

Loneliness

Loneliness is a complex and usually unpleasant emotional response to isolation. That is actually what is says in @wikipedia about loneliness. I know my situation is not unique in any way, but having my husband on the other side of the Atlantic at a time like this not knowing if my scheduled flight the first week in April will take off or if @airfrance will even function does contribute to a feeling of lonelieness. I know WE are many with mental health disorders that in a time like this being isolated is terryfying. I know because I feel it too. Talking on facetime or whatever platform works with your one and only does help off course, but the time difference and life in general does not always allow the possibility. Reaching out to understanding family and friends is always a good thing when needed. Reading #anewearth by @eckharttolle is for me a great tool when my lonelieness and/or depression is taking over reminding me not to BE my emotions but separate my ego from Jimmy. Feeling the sun on my face. Remembering being alone is not a punishment and being alive is an extraordinary gift I cherish 🙏🏽 Let’s talk. Ok?

Enlightened chain reaction duo

This weekend I spent more time at home alone then I think I have done in a VERY long time.

I had friends coming over to help me pack, but Marcello my husband is in Brasil (yes it is spelled with a Z in english but in portuguese with a S) working and since I choose to stay home as much as possible due to the Covid-19/Corona virus I have been home more than normally this past week.  

As I spend more time at home I always tend to see what I can improve in our home and lighting is something that 

always is an issue.

I fell for Blockchain you see above right away. I get all kind of interior design news every week in my inbox but this stood out.

Oblure based in Göteborg/Gothenburg, Sweden explain that Blockchain by 

Markus Johansson was a great challenge to preserve the original design in the product development info a final product. 

Blockchain consist of eight cubes. Four of them has a built in LED panel, which is replaceable by the user. This was made possible by crafting a new custom-made tool to be able to carefully remove and install the LED panel. 

Markus explains " For me it is important that the design can last, both as a timeless design object but also that the user easily can change the LED when that day comes. Today it is now always like that, there are products out there that can not be supplied with spare parts"

"One major thing for me was to align the LED with the edge of the square cubes for the light to spread. We tried to use standard solutions but to hide a small bulb in the cubes hindered the light and casted shadows where we did not want them".

A play on words between “chain” and “chandelier” by Italian David Groppi when he was looking for a chandelier, something new, but classic resulted in the ChainDelier. 

Davide Groppi wanted something simple, 

but with character. Like a pearl necklace.

ChainDelier is a golden chain 

that bends under its own weight, 

creating a perfect parabola (a symmetrical open plane curve formed by the intersection of a cone with a plane parallel to its side)  

Shining with golden rays like a modern version of a 

chandelier from Versailles is the intention.  

It is at the same time simple and linear. 
ChainDelier can be whatever the user wants it to be, 

inserting more chains and/or lighting devices, 

with the lights facing up or down. 

The number of lighting combinations makes this 

lamp truly unique and has already been awarded :

Do you feel enlightened by this chain duo?

Since I will be moving in April ( if I can travel out of Sweden at that time...) I will not do any changes at home in Stockholm at this point, but I will definitely think of using this enlightened chain duo in my coming designs.

Milan Design Week moved to JUNE 2020

The Milan magazine  Corriere della Sera wrote an article that I was apart of a couple of years ago. They sent me this fine photo of the article and a Milano fika that I just used as a backdrop for the Corona virus change of date. 

Milan Design Week moved from April to 

JUNE 15-21 2020. 

So impressed with the speed of which this international mega event in Italy has been moved due to the Corona virus situation.

So this spring I will not sit in the outdoor restaurant at Rossana Orlando and check the blooming wisteria and sip on ridiculously expensive moderately tasty wine in a plastic cup that I have come to love because in June me and my husband(!) will be working in Brasil!

To take an epidemic serious is naturally the way to go. Last time Milan was a center for a force majeure was 15 April 2010 when volcano ashes spread over 26 countries air space two days later all flights were cancelled the same day most visitors at the worlds largest furniture event in Milan needed to get back home. I among 300 000 interioristas wanted to get back home and could not. In the end we all got home but a virus of a kind that spreads like the 

Corona is not what you want 

threatening your city.
