C A R P E T | art

c AR pe T

The art of carpet making reassembled by Azerbaijani artist Faig Ahmed communicating creative contemporary hand knotted folktale in traditional materials.

Faig Ahmed  statement :
-I explore ancient traditions, cults and cultures, I make my own research and as I communicate with it, I create art. My carpets, installations and embroideries are the result of this interplay. It is fascinating to observe the process of such an easy transformation of such ancient and stable objects.I am in love with textile. Because fabrics are objects that humanity is using from the beginning of times, till nowadays. Another thing that interests me is pattern. Patterns and ornaments can be found in all cultures, sometimes similar, sometimes very different. I consider them words and phrases that can be read and translated to a language we understand. My art is an experiment. I want to examine the subject matter to see how deep can we go inside something accomplished and holistic and to observe the influence this kind of a change can have on people. What influences and inspires me the most are all kinds of travel. By saying travel I mean either physical travelling to other countries where I can find and explore traditions and cults spread on this certain territory; or travelling in my subconsciousness, different practices and meditations. And there is something I believe: If you want to change the world, start with yourself.

G R E E N | sanctuary

This time of year when I have had enough of winter I start dreaming about spring&summer and with those dreams all memories and hopes for the garden. When I walked into the plantshop/gardening mecca Löddeköpinge Plantskola it  was a religious experience. Nowhere else have I ever seen so many perfect plant still life and been given so much gardening inspiration ever. I keep coming back to look and buy my favorites and find new inspiration. Our garden now has influences from the high gardening priest here at my green sanctuary.

If you want your tree flat as a parasol this is what you do. Yes- my forehead in the pic!

B A B Y | blue skies

Most of the time beauty surrounds us. Sometimes it´s almost surreal. Some days my walk with the dogs covered in mist and feels grey and sticky and on days like this it´s crisp, white, blue and breathtaking.

W A N D E R S | does a colombo

Marcel Wanders presented the portable lounger in leather and suede for Luis Vuitton at the Design Miami event.

I just fell in love with the lines and the cleverness of it all. It will look better the more it´s worn is a real plus.

The Wanders lounger is a homage to Joe Colombo´s (google him if not acquainted with his amazing style) 1969 original of this design idea, that has been a true favorite for a very long time.

G R O W I N G | green(s)

GREEN is a way of life.
Green is a living color.
Greens are always essential in a home.
Every room indoors and outdoors need growing green(s)

Greenroom is a room for greens.
I miss my outdoor greens this time of year so I add some more greens indoors.

Our favorite plants are being treated increasingly like entities as our pets almost.

The green room. Room for plants. Plants for all rooms.

Kokedama and picture from Flora Linea

Kokedamas, these Japanese bundles of moss will reproduce here in the west at an incredible speed. Green plant spheres I can not get enough of.

Sea weed greens. Green like the sea.

N O R T H | modern my way

The sky lights at Bella is the high lite of the architecture...The building itself is something beyond the normal fairgrounds that you meet everywhere in the world.

This time going to the fair I´m here just to experience, to see what there is and look at what´s in the air for the coming seasons.

Often I have a task of some kind when I come to a fair more than just looking. A job for a magazine or building a set for a company or lecturing or selling or bying for me or someone else. This time though,  I´m here just for me and that´s lovely.

MUUTO

North Modern is the furniture fair in Copenhagen, Denmark.
At Bella Center, which is not far from the Copenhagen airport Kastrup,
and 35 min drive from my home the -so called- MODERN furniture is showcased.

It has become a fair I come back to (scroll back in the blog and you´ll see) It´s not the largest furniture fair in Scandinavia (and who cares) but it´s the fair that has made the most distinct decisions regarding  style.
NORTH MODERN. In those two words you have the description. To 95% it is a showcase of scandi/modern furniture and life style in a very relaxed atmosphere.
This year there were DJ´s playing loungy-type-of-relaxed (not at all uptempo) tones that seemed to put all the visitors in a different mood that I have ever seen on a fair.
Far from the stressed sell-NOW type of feeling you are used to. A more creative kind of artistic sense in the air.

I had a beautifully presented and sensationally tasting (expensive) sushi/sashimi along with a light chardonnay for lunch ( see my insta #jimmyschonninghem) and walked around looking at creations of furniture feeling like a prince. Not at all a desperate blogger at a fair. LOVELY!
Really enjoyed it.
THANK YOU NORTH MODERN for the atmosphere your have created.

New glass plant hangers from Broste Copenhagen

Room for outside the box design at North Modern. The ladder from Jonas Van Put does not come in a brown flat package for sure and I LOVE THAT.
Must admit that it was kind of scary to sit down at the chair after climbing all the way up.

I like the  cradle rocker below as well, do you?

Thank you for this time North Modern. I´ll be back
