Suprisingly Sophisticated Sofia

Take your time. Slow down and read it all.  

Because I must tell you that what I have seen in Sofia, Bulgaria is unique for me. First timer & lovin it. This is a place I would like to revisit for sure. 

We are actually here both Marcello and I to record a commercial were we both got a part in, but  we can not tell you about that right now,  because it has not been aired yet and we can not say anything until it has premiered in Norway later in spring. 

So we came to Sofia with no expectation and checked in to Grand Hotel Sofia on Saturday afternoon we just took our jackets off and went out in the sunshine in our T shirts and around the corner from the hotel we enjoyed the clarinet street musician in the park in front of the National Theatre this warm summer evening wile the Sofians take their evening  spring stroll while the trees slowly go into clorophyl mode. 

Amazing is the mix of the old and the new. The old renovated buildings and the new unfinished or dilapidated houses left to themselves right next to new restaurant. 

A gorgeous renovated russian orthodox masterpiece right next to a sign that has been filled with a mild protest. 

Laid out like a architectural Master pastry is the Grand Alexander Nevsky Cathedral and walking inside takes your breath away. The first photo on top of this post is taken inside this three throne cathedral that was built in the 1880´s. 

If you stay in the center like we did, we only walked out of the hotel in different directions each day and felt totally free to just discover Sofia by foot. That a meal is a third of the price compared to Stockholm and a good wine to your dinner is even less. Beer is really cheap compared to Scandinavia.  

There are many amazing buildings and churches to marvel at in this easy access city of Sofa. 

As perfect as some parts are others are totally taken over by 

impatient and intricate public scribble and bad graffitti. 

In front of the National Theatre is where to meet on a saturday afternoon. 

Many good cafés and restaurants are found within 5 min walkway in diameter from here. 

Sprayed and left to fall apart. 

Architectural grandeur. 

Great company is always a + on every trip. Marcello in shorts and his Sox.se 

was loving walking around in Sofia just like me. 

Spring in the air. Sun is out. LOVE!

Grand hotel Sofia offered a new carpet in the elevator each day. Impressive service and good food. Both breakfast and roomservice was as you expect a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ hotel. 

Sofia is full of fun restaurants of all kinds from cheap to luxurious and from 

traditional to world cuisine. 

Fun when you feel like you learn a little bit of this not easy to understand Slavic language family of cyrilic writing system that as a swede I see as graphically exotic. 

The interior of Grand Hotel Sofia is that of a wanna be american president type of green wall to wall carpeting White House Style wanting to be the Four Season but not really making it. 

What i mostly appreciate at the hotel was what we in Sweden almost has forgotten. 

The porcelain piece for the bathroom that I see as somewhat of a necessity if you want to stay a clean individual in regards to reaching those regions that we tend want to hide and forget until we want to have intimacy.... 

Do you want a bidé in your bathroom if you have the room ? I do!

The Bakers House by Färg Blanche

The Bakers House which is the name of the Färg Blanche exhibit during Stockholm Design Week was for me the  highlight of the week in the sense that I learned how powerful it is to Live the story not just Tell the story.  

Emma asked on FB messenger if i was  coming and I confirmed to come with Marcello the same night as mutual artist friend Daniel Nyström who will be exhibiting at Galeria La Cometa in Bogotá, Colombia where he and his partner Julia Peraltas new hometown is since 2 years.

We did not have the same tour experience as was meant by Färg Blanche with The Bakers House but we met both Fredrik&Emma and heard  about the intentions over relaxed cocktails in the evening since most of us were busy with our own participation of the Stockholm Design Week.

By showing the origin of the design from the house and inheritance that The Bakers House provide Färg Blanche excelled in Living the story NOT just Telling it.

Mediterranean dream home

Having been in Tel Aviv loving walking around in Neve Tzedek which is the neighborhood in Tel Aviv built outside the old city of the ancient port of Jaffa close to the mediterranean sea. 

For years this worn and wonderful old town was neglected and almost fell apart, 

but since early 1980´s Neve Tzedek has become one of Tel Aviv´s latest fashionable and expensive districts with a village like atmosphere. Literally, Neve Tzedek means Abode of Justice, but is also a name for god. 

The extremely cool and inviting kitchen area is featuring a Boffi kitchen. 

Boffi´s words about the renovation:

Completely renovated by Anderman Architects Studio, this three-level house is located among the alleys and olive trees 
of the old city of Tel Aviv, showing off its 90 years. 

The building age is also highlighted by the ancient vine, the big olive tree, the well in the yard and the tall limestone wall. 
It represents the history of urban, narrow and tall Mediterranean homes, 
influenced by the proximity of the sea and by a special light...

Lätt leva hållbart

Som ambassadör för Ake Sundvall vill jag bli bättre på hållbarhet, 

så det blir en serie om just det under våren här på bloggen med början här. 

Då vi numer kan välja på att leva ett hållbart liv eller inte,så tror jag de flesta av oss skulle välja hållbart. Det svåra är ju att veta vad hållbarhet och hållbar utveckling är.

Sen uttrycket hållbar utveckling myntades i Bruntland rapporten 

som Norges Stastmininster presenterade för Förenta Nationerna 1987 så hör man ordet hållbarhet närapå dagligen 2019.  

Hur gör man för att leva hållbart? 

Lättast för mig är då att se på synonymer till hållbar som bla är : varaktig, slitstark, och beständig. Då får man en klarare uppfattning. Att då ställa frågan : 

Hur lever man slitstarkt och beständigt?

Ett enkelt svar på den frågan är att i sin roll som konsument nyttja de genvägar som betydligt förenklar att kunna leva hållbart som Svanen erbjuder. 

Svanen”föddes” 1989 när Nordiska Ministerrådet startade Svanenmärkningen för att kunna hjälpa konsumenter som du 

och jag att göra bra val för miljön och det är väl just det hållbarhet innebär. Svanenmärkt först av allt blev batterier och papper men idag hittar du Svanen på fler än 10 000 varor och tjänster. 

Hur funkar då Svanenmärkning ? 

För att en tjänst eller produkt skall bli Svanemärkt så kravtestas den. Svanen analyserar produktens innehåll 

(till exempel kemikalier), hur den framställs (vatten- och energiförbrukning, utsläpp till luft, vatten och mark)och hur produkten eller tjänsten nyttjas eller tas omhand när den är förbrukad (återvinning och avfall). 

Svanen bedömer framför allt produkter och tjänster som används i stor mängd och av många människor.

Svanen begär in dokumentation och intyg av olika slag och gör omfattande tester i oberoende laboratorier. Därefter gör de kontrollbesök i produktionen eller 

på anläggningen som ska Svanenmärkas. 

Efter godkända kontroller får företaget en licens som ger dem rätt att använda Svanenloggan på sin produkt.  

I denna kontrollprocess har Åke Sundvall fått sn grundlicens för deras studentlägenheter i Gubbängen i Stockholm. Jag frågar Hanna Lindskog chef för Komunikation och  Marknad på Åke Sundvall, om deras väg till Svanenmärkning:

-Vi har ju fått vår gundlicens så att vår process är svanenmärkt. Nu bygger vi vårt första Svanenmärkta hus som är Maja & Knekten – studentlägenheterna i Gubbängen. Eller rättare sagt, vi har ambitionen om att de ska bli Svanencertifierade, för det vet vi ju först när husen är klara om vi klarat det så att säga.

Vi kommer att återkomma till studentbostäderna i Gubbängen när processen har kommit längre i 

min serie om hållbarhet här på blogggen. 

Sist men definitivt inte minst viktigt så är Svanens vision för ett hållbart samhälle som de bidrar till genom sin  miljömärkningar av en hållbar konsumtion. 

För företag är en Svanenmärkning ett bevis på att de aktivt arbetar för en hållbar produktion 

och att deras produkter har uppfyllt  tuffa miljökrav. 

Alla kan faktiskt bidra till en bättre miljö, konsumenter genom att välja miljömärkta varor och tjänster, och företag genom att mijömärka sina produkter.

Tänk på att : 

De flesta Svanenmärkta varor har loggan på själva produkten eller på sin förpackning. På hotell och restauranger hänger det ofta en Svanenutmärkelse på väggen. Många företag som har Svanenmärkta produkter använder loggan i sin marknadsföring, t ex i trycksaker, på sin hemsida eller i tv- och radioreklam. Du hittar också en aktuell lista över alla Svanenmärkta varor och tjänster på Svanen. 

Syftet med Svanen är att hjälpa oss  konsumenter  med att kunna välja de ur miljösynpunkt bästa produkterna på som finns på marknaden inte bara i Sverige utan hela Norden. Svanenmärkningen som du säkert sett med den grönvita runda symbolen med en svan.

Vår gemensamma framtid, informelltBrundtlandrapporten, 

(egentligen Report of the World Commission on Environment 

and Development: Our Common Future) är en rapport som skrevs av Världskommissionen för miljö och utveckling på uppdrag av Förenta Nationerna 1987. Denna kommission leddes av Norges dåvarande statsminister Gro Harlem Bruntland, varför den allmänt kallas Bruntlandkommisionen. 

 

Alla bilder är tagna av mig [föutom denna just ovan] i somras då jag försökte leva så hållbart jag kunde genom att njuta sommaren lokalt. Så underbart det var!
