S H A D E S | of grey

Soft grey paneling along with a patchwork of grey tiles letting the white just be the frame. This is ideal for a hallway.The 30´s hooks were saved by the family to be used one day. 

This is the hallway of the family in our  5th  episode of Husräddarna, tv3. This type of paneling being a traditional and love/hate type of wall covering in Sweden. Some decades more and next less of it´s type. I must say it has come to be a favorite and especially when painted grey and not white which was how it has been done, mostly in summer houses. Here is an entrance hallway in shades of grey.

Stand up mirror that gives the look that it´s just leaning, but is well attached to the wall, Asplund. A typical apartment building type of funcionalism letter sign , Byggfabriken.

The reflection shows the built in benches that holds storage if you lift the lid. The shelf on top contrasting but taking up a hue that you find in the kitchen. A wonderful flowery shopping bag so you don´t need any plastic  ones, Ceannis

T U R Q U O I S E | tendensies

Two Morris sofas was a must for the family. They had one before the fire and loved it. I altered the color of the back cushion in one of the sofas to the turquoise that I know the mom in the family loves, Fogia

In episode 5 of Husräddarna, TV3 this is what was the family wanted in their new home interior wise :

In the barn beside the house that burnt down the family had collected things they liked over the years like these blue hue and turquoise bottles as well as the larger brown beer bottle.  I wanted to use them and Anny at Återbrukshyttan took the old bottles and made them into lamps. See the ceramic cork hanging from the top? 

Pillows made the white sofa relaxed, Mimou.

The tray from the Hay traytable is on the sofatable as a minipond or low vase. Here you see the turquoise back pillows in the sofa, Fogia

From new pictures and old ones found in their phones I made a memory lane using turquoise acrylic paint on a canvas.  Tray table from Hay.

The stand from the Hay traytable became a holder for the worn&wonderful bottle chest.

The family had lots of old chairs in the barn that became almost new with a white cover.

I made a special order of a sofa treastle table, Lövsjö Loghouse.

Exposed beams were put into the living room by Erik, Lövsjö Loghouse, which was a wish from Åsa&Fredrik so that some of the charm from their old house would move into the new one.

Tadelakt in grey tones was applied to the walls in part of the living room in the dining area. The soft patina type of layers of grey was created by Tadelakt Artisan Michael Sarian at Tadelakt Sverige

Our family loves to play all the family games and now the display shelves show them  off, in the updated version of the 50´s Swedish shelf, String

Yellow is Fredriks choice of color and turquoise is Åsa´s favorite that is liked by Fredrik as well.

B E D | room bliss

Finding your home in flames is a trauma that you might never really recover from. The family at Husräddarna, tv3 had a 200 year old house that burnt down. So when it was rebuilt they really had to think of how to translate the old and the new into their new home. 

This is how it turned out when Fredrik, Åsa (parents) and I had selected from what was history and what was future together to make their new home. 

Bedroom bliss is created with knowing what makes you relax.

The bedside table was made from an inherited  table (hidden under a old table cloth and a chairs on top in the barn)  that had 4 legs before the chop. Now there is one side (post chop) of the table on each side of the bed. Paint was a great makeover in this case. The matching with the headboard/doors helps a lot. The color chosen is a hue from the wallpaper that Åsa&Fredrik found and both loved.

A linen bed with contrasting hues and double up or more of everything, Kardelen.

Candle light for atmosphere, Terrible Twins. Wall light for night reading, Markslöjd.

A bed side tree.

 I made a spheric/round lamp out of a cheap Ikea lamps. Two halves made a whole with a thin white fabric covering it. Tied with a thin thread to make a tassel type ending.  So much fun with unique lighting!Use LED bulbs for they do not produce any heat for a completely secure installation.

 

& pillows naturally. Who can live without them? These from Mimou

The antique sofa was a find and a wish especially from Fredrik that I find a place for. Love the mix of styles in this room and the sofa does a great role in this. Floor lamp, Markslöjd.

Hay tray tables became plantholder and side table. Lovely!

G O L D E N | age now

Moooi carpet design by Marcel Wanders that was presented at the Milan Salone Del Mobile 2015. 

Marcel Wanders presents a book about the Dutch Golden Age painters. 

Below in the post previous you can see the the book called "RIJKS" Masters of the Golden Age. 

These painters and their art has influenced artists through the centuries and still do. 

Collected in a way not seen before Marcel Wanders has produced a bible of a book about the Dutch painters around 1560-1650. 

The paintings has given inspiration to the Moooi carpet collection presented earlier this year and will certainly continue to lend its love of nature to future generations and has again  started to show up in interiors.

The glass room/conservatory is where it all happened. This space is where our family at TV3, Husräddarna gathered. This is where, from early spring to late fall, dinner was enjoyed. I did my best in taking in all that the family wanted and this his how it turned out.

Lots of room for each person. 6 large chairs easily fits. Comfort being a priority. Don´t you just love the legs of this LARGE table. LOVE IT! Table&chairs,  Living Story.

Now...the mother in the family said : I want a plastic carpet in the glass room/conservatory for easy cleaning. 

I felt like talking her into lots of other solutions but sensed this was a battle I should not take. 
So I went looking for plastic carpeting and found this marrocan tiles looking type of vinyl flooring from Tarkett. You would never have guessed, huh?

A room without plants is a dead space. The pots and the ivy both hanging and climbing as well as the long stemmed olive trees like this type of not heated glass conservatory, pots&plants from Ljungleds Plantskola.

Seats for everyone. Here is were everyone gathers. So lots of comfy chairs and two sofas. Sofa and matching chairs, Living Story. Pillows and tray table, Interstil. Pot and plants, Ljungleds Plantskola.

A mixed style with moroccan feel with lots of room for dinner and seating adorned with greens.

C A R P E T | makes a home

10 years ago it was stylish to show your bare floors indoors, 
in Scandinavia mostly wooden floors. 

Today it feels naked not to warm up your home with carpets. 

2015 must be the year of the carpet. A home is simply bare without carpets(and our pets love them)
