In Stockholm for some private consultations interior wise. One of the family homes I´m working with is close to Edsvik Konst/ART Hall. So happy I finally took the opportunity to see the art exhibit. Here are some of my favorites

Copenhagen harbour side

Today I´m on my way up to Stockholm for  meetings and  interior work for two private homes, but Saturday I went to Copenhagen. I stopped by in the new part of town by the harbour that is growing larger every time I go by.

Invited to see the AW 16-17 collection and news for Danish interior brand Lene Bjerrre by the Swedish agent Mias Home in a old factory turned show rooms and offices that I really fell for.

Coming in to the show room I pass an exciting art exhibition - great art and no names on who created it. Do you know who did this piece?

So I enter in to the world of Lene Bjerre and just want to sit down in the simple sofa installation. Loving the reused wall idea - can you see what it is ? 

Showing you here what I think stand out and that are my favorites among this large collection and that I see as a new style interpretation at this brand.

These black metal cabinets/drawers on wheels are a favorite.

Cool style: On wheels in two levels, simplicity I like.

Zink metal bath style I go for.

Untidy and lovely. Grey tones with soft whites and a touch of lavender accompanied by a basic black makes for a wintry feel along with fur&fake fur.

Did you know that chairs hang better from the ceiling. Sitting in a hanging chair is a feeling of something that if you never tried you do not know the sensation. Since I have one at home I start every morning here. When I pick up my legs and feel the elevated feeling is sets the mood for my day. Did I say i love it ?

Seen from our second floor at the converted stable that I call my home.

Not only chairs can fly, or hang from the ceiling. Beds or bed/sofa or sofa-beds can as well. We had help of the talented Erik Hjärtfors/Lövsjö Loghouse that delivered (as always) the most amazing old timber and built the hanging bed/sofa of my dreams. We use as a sofa and hang out place in the living room and when we have guests its a perfect bed. Wanted to do this for such a long time I´m so happy we finally did, it has become such a favorite hang out. Suspended is a way of living. 

K I T C H E N | trends 2016

Wanted to show you one of my favorite kitchen brands and their exhibit at International Fair Salone del Mobile in Milan showing more of what the new kitchen trends for 2016 and beyond look like. Now this is only one brand, so have that in mind. I really love the blackened stainless steel kitchen. A true favorite.

K I T C H E N | conclusions Milano -16

Now it feels like my hoods have reached about the same summer bloom that Milano had when I was there for the design week almost a month ago.

Looking at the kitchens that had something new to bring to the pot at Euro Cucina 2016 in Milan. Love this concrete stove&sink island and the way the lamp cord was hung.

 

The very  thin metal shelving hung like they are flying (propped on a back board) is a new kithen storage and deco trend that I really go for. The stone/marble in contrasting, patterned surfaces is such a step in new direction. Open shelving with wooden boxes warming up the metal and stone. 

Textured and  patterned stone. All in one. Splashback, sink and front. All the same material.

Tables hung from the kitchen top. Mobile and set versions. Two legged tables added to the worktop.

Useful splash back surface. Storage. Clever shelving. New materials. USABLE being the key word.

IF you find a lab kitchen like in the old days, it has a large metal shelving filled with gooodies (cacti!!!?) on top.

Cleverspecial made storage shelving.LOVE! More brown&black wood than anything else.

ECLECTIC feel goes around. When you place a new kitchen in you home you decorate with worn&wonderful, soulful and partly useful objects with patina.

C O N C R E T E | bridge construction

With the use of reinforcement nets with sand placed underneath after scraping the ground making a somewhat flat surface and a plywood board covered in plastic in the right place for the small arch of the bridge, we start mixing cement.

Just like the most simple concrete and stone paths we have seen in Spain and Cuba we just place stone irregularly to be incorporated in the cement path that starts at the gate to the garden and leads to the entrance of our house. We also raise several larger rocks to mark the the way and make a statement. We like stones. In other words, we are stones fans as you can see.

If you have never mixed cement you need to read up on cement texture. That´s the key.  Google and you will find. As well on Youtube. We had help of an experienced  conctrete (!) friend to mix the cement. When we put down this much work we want it to become as planned. After getting the right cement texture we start spreading the grey wonderful goo. Notice how we place planks as sides to the little bridge over the creek, but letting it just flow over slightly in all other areas, and just placing some stones for a irregular feel .  We also place sea shells and clam shells and a little bit of love in the cement. All of this needs to happen when there is no rain off course. When we were done we place a tarpaulin/presenning to cover it for the next 24 hours and then we will see how much it has dried.

After 1 and a half day of drying we have a bridge and a concrete pathway to our house.

Cement/concrete is an amazing material that becomes what you create with it. We wanted a bridge and walkway/path to our house with a natural feel. We have seen these type of simple and rough kinds of pathways in Spain&Cuba and it really turned out the way we wanted it to. Now it feels like impossible to think it has not always been there.

Thanks to the little concrete bridge we now have flow from the pond to the creek that follows the path down to the garden. 

A M E R I C A N | ceramist in copenhagen

The boutique is in two floors and this if the second floor.

American Eric Landon came to Copenhagen to complete his design studies. He stayed in Denmark and developed his own company Tortus where he creates ceramics.

His studio and boutique is in Copenhagen and my first contact with his way of pottery making was through Instagram. 

Never have pottery making been so sensual. Well, maybe in the movie Ghost ( google :movie ghost pottery scene, if you don´t remember) 

 Eric Landon shows the way he makes pottery. The making of pottery, when you know what you are doing is an art form. 

The vases, pots and jars are wonderful designed products, but the making of the pottery is something to see. The clay that is formed, following the experienced hands and fingers that command the clay to become an unknown shape is so refreshing to watch. 

Knowledge and craftsmanship. You just have to see it yourself. You find handsome Eric Landon and his creations being made in front of your eyes at Instagram account #tortus_copenhagen. 
I just showed up in the Tortus boutique and was shown around by Eric and forgot completely to take pictures of his studio and him. But  you can see him and his studio on Instagram. I did remember to take shot of the boutique and some more.
