SOOMKAI the original

This is the copy of Soomkai that furniture company Mio now sell in their autumn catalogue.

The ceiling lamp called Soomkai is sold through Watt&Veke´s retailers in Scandinavia  and has been around a couple of years, see this link for when the idea came to me

10 % of the profit of Soomkai is given to an HIV orphanage in Thailand where Soomkai, which means chicken cage, is produced by hand.

Bathroom before

This is what the bathroom and the view of the space that will hold the staircase looks like if you stand where we just put in the new window. Instead of the door that was always there. There was a lot of very fine dirt under the old cement floor. A LOT! We dug even more and all the dirt was taken out. Many wheelbarrows of dirt I must say!

Loving the old wall that is in what will become the bathroom and that dubles a a wall that will hold the kitchen in the next room over. Would love to just keep the wall like this, but in a bathroom there are so many rules of how it should be constructed so that it can take all that water usage that we just can not keep it this way....

The first electrician that we showed what will be become the bathroom, that at this point was some kind of electricity and all kind of weired wiring room, told us that

- Well, that is not possible.

The electricity is here....

Outdoor boxes like this that holds the central incoming electricity can off course be moved. With the help of a good electrician that is!

As you can understand we did not use that electrician. We sent him home and checked the next name on the list of the site that I used elektrikerlistan.se

where we after meeting 4 more found the electrician that came to work with The STABLE

This is the door from the inside that we instead changed to a window so that the bathroom in The Stable could have some light.

Round tour post demolition

Demoliton Day at The Stable

All walls are going down! -- The Stable was converted or ..... a try of some sort was made many years ago to make the 100 year old Stable to a home.  Walls, floors and ceilings were built inside.  Electricity was put in and a bathroom actually worked when  we took over. The only problem was that the downstairs that is about 65 sqm was made into 4 rooms+bathroom(!!!)  Extremly small rooms and NO feeling at all in my way of seeing things. So here we go tearing it all down. It should be just ONE big open plan kitchen&livingroom with one wall standing for the bathroom.

The old stove came to use and a fire was made. Francisco cooked us chicken in the oven.

Veggies prepared as well on the old fire stove.

What a meal for hardworking demolitionworkers!

The fireplace on the backside of the stove is so beautiful. But in a sence turned the wrong way. Not facing the large room but facing the windows. Just something we have to live with.

This simple light fixture is typical for when Stables got electricity. Think we will come to have more of them....

Stablewindows at Hoby Mosse

Yes there are chickens on this minifarm. Fresh eggs are a delight!

Loving this app i found in my iphone called My messures and using it right now as I take a picture of the window to be able to send the meassurements and the picture so I can get the new window you see on the bottom that we put in the bathroom  instead of the door that was there.

Apple blossom. Apple blossom. Apple blossom. The scents of summer  in pictures of flowers.

Lilacs are my favorite scent. It tells you summer is coming. We had so many different colors around the garden.

Bergenia said hello in springtime.
It´s so lovely to move into a house that already has so much to give.

This is the rose arch when it was in full bloom.

This is how the window turned out in a new and updated version for the Stable at Hoby Mosse. Wanted to keep black windows but it was just tooo expensive. So to stay with the budget, got white ones and will paint a black frame around the windows instead the white one that the Stable has now, check them out on the pic on top. One of the entrances from the backyard in to the Stable need to become a window instead. The bathroom will hold that window when we are done.

Soomkai&Lumi

Missa inte Lumi´s snygga förvaring som här stylats med vår Soomkai i gott sällskap av Jacobsen och Tolix stolar. Självklart är det Fru Holmstedt som stylat denna bild. Me lajk.

Storage solutions from Lumi in company with our Soomkai ceiling lamp and nobilities by Jacobsen. All styled by Mrs Holmstedt. Lovely :)

Soomkai in German Brigitte

Since my personal favorite Schöner Wohnen already has had pictures of the Soomkai lamp last year, I am happy to say that Brigitte that you find online www.brigitte.de, is sporting our bamboo lampshade.
We hope that Germans will come to like it just like us scandinavians and know that it has a good purpose aswell. For you who have not seen it before check in at www.jimmyschonning.com/webshop
If you like to find it in Germany we will tell Watt&Veke who sells them that we have to find more homes for Soomkai at our close neighbor just south of Sweden.
